With the exception of pre-organised external presentations and the remaining walks and tours scheduled for November 2025, the Centre will be closing to the public on the 1st December 2025 until the 1st March 2026 for the completion of the refurbishment work which has been ongoing over the past eighteen months.
The formal reopening of the Centre will take place on the morning of Sunday 1st March 2026 with the opening limited to invited guests and Members. The Centre will reopen to the public from noon on that date. We look forward to showing you the results of our hard work.
A massive thank you to everyone that attended or helped out with our events during 2025. Your efforts and support is always appreciated, and you have helped us ensure that our unique and historic building remains for future generations to allow them to appreciate and understand the historic importance of Purfleet-on-Thames.

There will be a Remembrance Service for the Gurkha Regiment at the Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre on Sunday 20th April 2025 at 11am.
All are welcome. The Centre will be open afterwards for refreshments and for visitors.
We are currently planning events for the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day which is the 8th May 2025.
Local radio enthusiasts will be broadcasting from the centre and we will be taking part in a local street party.
The Gurkha Festival will take place on the 17th August at the Heritage Centre. This is always a highliught of the year and includes Nepalese dancing and food as well as a celebration of the historic ties between the UK and the Gurkha Regiment around the only dedicated Memorial to them in Essex.

We will be holding a celebration of Purfleet's links with Bram Stoker's Dracula on the 26th October 2025. This will include a walk around the sites in Purfleet that are mentioned in the book which must be pre-booked. Details here.

The South Eastern Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club is holding it's "Drive It Day" event ending at the Heritage Centre at around noon on the 27th April. This is a great chance to see some wonderful vehicles close up and to visit the Heritage Centre too.
The Thurrock District Dementia Friends Community Dementia Memory Walk will commence from the Heritage Cente at 11am on Sunday 18th May 2025.
Open to all, this is a gentle walk exploring Purfleet's Heritage while raising money and awareness for the Alzheimers Society.
Our first annual "Salute" event celebates the 80th anniversay of the end of WW2.
This event, organised in conjunction with Film Thurrock, will include a large screen showing "The Dambusters", stalls, games and displays on the Green at Purfleet-on-Thames.
